Museum making Workshop 1

How to take stuff Home

A workshop on museums as story-keepers
Ages:  8-15 years

Hosted at Intermational Museum Expo 2023, New Delhi

Stories are intrinsic to who we are. It makes our world go around. We tell stories, live them and carry them forward. The museums we build, are some of the best memory and story keepers we made. They aren’t so truly places for “stuff” but for stories of the stuff, of the people who made the stuff and the world that the stuff influenced. Museums are bursting at the seams with everything they carry and everything they have to share, but many times they lose the plot, and sometimes we don’t know where to look.

‘How to take stuff home’ is a tool-based workshop through which we’ll find ways of unearthing and investigating these stories which make us and the museum tick. The short workshop will give us a way to read museums and as the name suggests, we’ll find ways to take home the things which really matter.

Museum making Workshop 2

In a boat,
on a plane!

A workshop on how museums do what they do
Open to all ages

Hosted at Intermational Museum Expo 2023, New Delhi

Museums are mediums into the worlds of their objects and their stories. While they’re often looked at as revered places as they tell the “truth”, we tend to forget that “truth” is not singular, and ‘perspective’ changes things a bit.

‘On a boat, in a plane’ is a short workshop which will look at layering, context and lensing in museums, and how stories, while core, can also change. The intent of the workshop is to look at museums as not just a storehouse, but important places in our social context where ‘truths’ are exchanged.
